XXS Clasp: A Minimalist Solution for Delicate Jewelry

Anne Dumont's Innovative Design

Minimalists pendants are so charming, but they need to be worn on nearly invisible nylon or wire. I didn't find adapted clasps for such thin nylon or wire, so I designed it.

Introducing the XXS Clasp, a revolutionary design by Anne Dumont that solves the problem of securing delicate pendants on thin nylon or wire. With its extra small and simple design, this clasp can be easily put on by anyone without the need for any tools. It is specifically designed to complement minimalist pendants, such as a single pearl or the XXS A'Design Award Trophy, and is suitable for both necklaces and bracelets.

The XXS Clasp is a unique solution that sets it apart from other clasps on the market. Its strength lies in its adaptability to very thin nylon or wire, allowing wearers to effortlessly attach their favorite pendants. The clasp features a small hole for the link to enter and a cavity to hold the knot securely, ensuring that the link and the clasp stay together.

When it comes to the technical specifications, the size of the XXS Clasp depends on the thickness of the link used. It can be smaller for thin links and larger for thicker links, such as leather lace. This versatility makes it suitable for a wide range of jewelry designs.

The XXS Clasp was initially developed by Anne Dumont in collaboration with attorney Serge Flecijn. The original prototype was created by modifying an existing clasp, focusing on creating a mechanism that is simple yet effective. No special tools were used during the production process, making it accessible to a wider audience.

One of the main challenges faced during the development of the XXS Clasp was finding a cost-effective solution for industrial production. While the clasp is currently produced in Italy, it has been evaluated as too expensive by potential clients. However, the true value of this design lies not in the sale of the clasp itself, but in its ability to enhance the sale of precious stones, pearls, and pendants that would otherwise be difficult to secure without this innovative clasp.

With the XXS Clasp, the problem of a clasp being too large to thread through a small pendant hole is eliminated. By allowing wearers to put the clasp on after threading the pendant, this design offers a seamless and elegant solution. Whether you're wearing a delicate pearl necklace or showcasing an award-winning trophy pendant, the XXS Clasp ensures that your jewelry stays securely in place.

The XXS Clasp was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in 2015 in the Idea and Conceptual Design category. This prestigious accolade recognizes the exceptional creativity, technical expertise, and innovation demonstrated by this remarkable design. With its outstanding functionality and artistic skill, the XXS Clasp brings a sense of wonder and amazement to the world of jewelry.
